Enrichment for Elementary School
Problem solving with an emphasis on developing problem solving strategies and solid foundation for mathematical thinking. There will be games, puzzles, history, real world topics and brain teasers that might not be covered in regular curriculum. Kids will apply concepts they have learned and develop new knowledge & problem solving strategies. It is also be useful for math competition such as Math Olympia and Math Kangaroo. There will be 3 levels: 1-2 grade, 3-4 grade and 5-6 grades.
Elementary School Problem Solving Math (Level 2, 3, 4, 5)
This is challenging but fun course that emphasizes problem solving. It is a full year curriculum that can replace the math teaching at home. There are hands-on activities and games to supplement the text by Beast Academy. The series teaches math through reasoning and problem solving. Students complete weekly assignment at home. The classes are geared towards kids who love mathematics or challenging problems. There will be 4 levels.
Pre requisite: An assessment test will be sent to those who signed up.
Level 2: Student should be able to count beyond 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s, know basic shapes, be able to add and subtract numbers from 1 to 20, and be able to solve simple word problems.
Level 3: Student should be comfortable adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers and must have a solid understanding of place value.
Level 4: Student should understand the basics of perimeter and area, multiplication and division, measurement, fractions, and estimation.
Level 5: Student should be familiar with variables, adding and subtracting integers and decimals, and multiplying whole numbers with fractions.

AMC 8 Prep
This course is an introduction to the problem solving strategies for the AMC 8 tests.
What is the AMC 8?
The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment. This year, the AMC 8 test date is November 13, 2018.
